Majestic Memphis

Sunday Brunch at the Majestic Grilled in Memphis.

This past Sunday I grabbed brunch with Eric’s parents while he was out of town. They have lived in Memphis for five years now and have staked out some cool spots in the city. This is a complex city, with it’s beautiful history of music on Beale Street and also pockets throughout of great food and nightlife atmosphere. Steve and Kathy took me to the Majestic Grille in downtown Memphis.

Ya’ll know I’m a sucker for Mimosa! Giving me pouring control on the champagne was a bold move. No complaints! At all 🙂
Steak and Eggs with breakfast potatoes! This was a Midwest meal if I ever saw one, everything else on the meal was very southern. Shrimp and grits, biscuits and gravy, fried everything!! This was pretty yummy pairing with my Mimosa! (And they were able to accommodate my dairy allergy. )

The Majestic Grille was built in 1913 as the Majestic No. 1, a silent movie theater. The architecture and style inside and outside stays true to it’s original purpose. The woodwork and aesthetic was old-school-cool. I definitely felt like I could light up a cigarette and drink brandy inside. (Yes, that I was what I think of when I think of 1913!)

Rainy day vibes outside the Majestic Grille. I can picture the line outside of here in it’s hay day, in 1913, with everyone in their best dressed excitedly waiting to go to the silent movie theater! How cool.

Sunday morning cartoons!!

The Alleyway outside of the Majestic Grille had an artistic look to it. I started looking around and began to appreciate things that aren’t on Beale Street in this city. While Beale Street is incredibly cool, there is much more to this city!!! This area is one I’d like to explore again!

Memphis recently got their trolley cars up and running again. The website below can help visitors plan hot spots to visit by the trolley!

Eric has returned and we are gearing up to pick up my mom on Monday. We start our adventure out to Oregon with her. As I mentioned in my video blog, she hasn’t traveled much since having kids. She loves the idea of RV living. We are going to give her a real look at it! Lucky for her she doesn’t have to stay in our old camper! She gets the luxury of an electric fireplace and, well, a bed to sleep in! Thanks for reading and I’ll keep you posted!!
